Pedestrian hit by car in Monroe Co. dies, police say

Michigan State Police are investigating a crash Thursday in Monroe County that left a pedestrian dead.

Troopers were called at about 4:30 a.m. to Will Carleton Road near Port Creek Road in Ash Township for a report of a car crash involving a pedestrian.

According to a preliminary investigation, a black Lincoln passenger car traveling east on Will Carleton struck a 28-year-old Canton Township man who was walking in the roadway.

Officials said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said a 28-year-old Willis man was driving the Lincoln at the time of the crash.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, officials said. Other details were not released.
