Suspect rejects plea deal in attack on Livonia jogger

A Berkley man who has been questioned about the disappearance of a Farmington Hills woman rejected a plea deal Friday on charges of attacking a female jogger in Livonia.

Floyd Galloway Jr., 30, is accused of repeatedly choking the jogger after allegedly grabbing her during a run through Hines Park in Livonia on Sept. 4, 2016.

Under the plea deal, a charge of assault with intent to murder would have been dropped against Galloway. He would have received 15-35 years behind bars for pleading guilty to kidnapping, intent to commit criminal sexual conduct with penetration and assault by strangulation.

“We’ll be taking that offer off the table today and proceeding to trial,” Assistant Wayne County Prosecutor Danielle Bennetts said.

About 45 witnesses are expected to be called in the trial, which is scheduled to begin Nov. 29 before Judge Mark Slavens of Wayne County Circuit Court. The trial is expected to last three weeks, Bennetts said.

Galloway’s defense attorney John Dakmak refused to say why his client turned down the plea offer but said, “We’ll be ready for trial ... and let the chips fall where they may.”

Galloway was arrested in June.

Last month, Slavens cut Galloway’s bond from $750,000 cash to $350,000 cash. If Galloway’s bail is posted, he will have to wear a tether and be under house arrest with his parents.

Dakmak said he hasn’t a lot of conversation with Oakland County authorities regarding his client and the Stislicki case.

Stislicki went missing around 5 p.m. Dec. 2 after leaving her job at MetLife in Southfield in the area of Telegraph near 10 Mile. Stislicki had asked to leave work earlier than scheduled and had plans to meet up with a longtime friend but never arrived, according to police.
