One person is dead and an FBI agent was injured in a shooting outside of a Texas Roadhouse in Madison Heights after authorities executed an arrest warrant.

The incident unfolded about 4:30 p.m. Friday in the restaurant parking lot near John R and 12 Mile "during the execution of an arrest warrant for a federal weapons offense," said Steven D'Antuono, special agent in charge of the FBI Detroit field office.

The person sought and who was killed has been identified as Eric Mark-Matthew Allport, he said.

There was no immediate word on the condition of the agent, who remained hospitalized.

"The FBI takes all shooting incidents involving our agents seriously," D'Antuono said. "In accordance with FBI policy, the shooting incident will be investigated by the FBI’s Inspection Division. The review process is thorough and objective, and is conducted as expeditiously as possible."

No additional details will be released until the probe is complete, D'Antuono said.

Oakland County Sheriff's deputies blocked much of the area surrounding the scene for several hours as authorities investigated.
