Barking dogs alert resident to blaze, Auburn Hills Fire Department says

Barking dogs alerted a resident to a house fire Saturday morning in Auburn Hills.

An Auburn Hills fire crew was dispatched at about 10:30 a.m. to the 3200 block of Parkways Boulevard for a structure fire, according to the Auburn Hills Fire Department.

A resident had been awakened by dogs barking, which alerted the resident to the fire, the department said. The resident flagged down fire crews from a station across the street from the house.

Crews contained the fire to the kitchen area in the rear of the home, the department said.

Residents reported that everyone was out of the home but a dog still was inside.

Crews extinguished the fire and additional crews located the missing dog in a back bedroom. The dog escaped on its own once the door was opened, the department said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
