An Oakland County man won $4 million through a gas station lottery ticket, the Michigan Lottery announced Thursday.

The 67-year-old man, who chose to remain anonymous, bought the VIP Millions ticket at a Novi USA 2 Go gas station, officials said in a statement.

He has since claimed his prize in a one-time lump sum payment from the Michigan Lottery's Lansing headquarters.

The man plans to invest some of the winnings and complete home improvements, according to the release.

"Winning this money means less stress for me and my family and gives me the chance to help my kids,” the man said in the release.

The VIP Millions game has awarded more than $106 million to players who purchase a $30 ticket since its 2022 launch, according to the Michigan Lottery.

Lottery players won more than $1.7 billion from instant games that year, officials wrote.

“When I scratched the ticket off and saw I had won $4 million I couldn’t believe it," the man said in the release. "I showed the ticket to my wife just to be sure I had won. After that, it still took a solid 24 hours before it really sank in that I was a millionaire.”

The prize comes after a Canton Township woman this month earned a $3 million Mega Millions win.

A Grand Blanc convenience store also sold an $842 million Powerball ticket.
