A Florida woman was arrested last week after speeding away from Hazel Park and Troy police officers, offiicals announced Thursday.

Troy police at about 2 p.m. March 7 tried to pull over a black Chevrolet Tahoe on south Interstate 75 at Big Beaver Road. Hazel Park police were looking for the vehicle because it fled from officers earlier in the day, authorities said.

The driver refused to stop and continued speeding south on I-75, Troy police said. Officers then tried to use their vehicles to box in the Tahoe and bring it to a stop.

But the Tahoe's driver intentionally rear-ended a patrol car to continue fleeing, police said. Officers continued to pursue the vehicle.

Officials said the SUV exited the freeway at Seven Mile Road in Detroit and traveled west to Woodward Avenue. Shortly after turning onto Woodward, the Tahoe struck another patrol vehicle before crashing into a vehicle not involved in the pursuit, investigators reported.

Authorities said the driver exited the vehicle and ran but Hazel Park officers arrested her nearby. Investigators identified the driver as a 22-year-old woman from Rockledge, Fla.

She was taken to the Troy Police Department to await charges.
