A 34-year-old woman was arrested last week after allegedly stealing pills from the Troy pharmacy where she worked, police said Thursday.

Troy police were called at about 8 a.m. March 7 to the Health Hero Pharmacy at 4600 Investment Drive near Crooks and Long Lake roads for a report of embezzlement.

A store employee told officers the pharmacy staff counted the drugs in the store's inventory and found a bottle containing 100 tablets of generic Percocet was missing, according to authorities.

Police reviewed footage from the store's security cameras and saw a new pharmacy employee opening a drawer she was not supposed to be able to access. They also saw the woman remove a small white bottle and place it in her pocket, officials said.

Officers questioned the employee, a Sterling Heights resident, and she admitted to taking the pills home and taking some of them.

Officers arrested the woman and took her to the department's holding facility to await charges.
