No weapons or threats were found Tuesday at West Bloomfield Middle School, police and school officials said.

They also said no injuries were reported.

David Gardner, the middle school's principal, said in a letter to parents that police were called after officials received a tip that someone had brought a weapon to the building on Orchard Lake Road between Maple and Walnut Lake roads.

He said no weapon was found.

Gardner also told parents the school was placed on a soft lockdown while school staff and police searched the building as a precaution.

"Thus far, there is no credible threat," the principal said. "Police are helping to facilitate pickup if parents wish to do so."

He added: "Student and staff safety is always our chief concern. We take all threats seriously and will continue to partner with public safety to provide a safe and secure learning environment. All threats are handled per our Code of Conduct."
