A man sought by police on multiple warrants was shocked and arrested Wednesday in Berkley after a car chase, officials said.

Christopher Mobley, 49, was arraigned Thursday in 44th District Court in Royal Oak on a count of third-degree fleeing and eluding police, a five-year felony.

A judge set his bond at $50,000 and scheduled his next court hearing for April 12.

Police arrested Mobley at about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Berkley police officers spotted in their city a silver Volkswagen Jetta wanted for evading Birmingham police in the Woodward and Maple Road area earlier in the day, officials said.

Officers were told Mobley was driving the vehicle and had been wanted on multiple outstanding warrants, including one for felony domestic violence, according to authorities. He was also wanted on a probation violation warrant.

They said they deployed devices to flatten the vehicle's tires to avoid a high-speed chase. The devices worked but the driver continued to flee on three deflated tires. Officers with the Berkley and Southfield Police Departments immobilized the vehicle at the intersection of 11 Mile and Evergreen roads.

However, the driver refused to exit the vehicle or obey officers' commands. Investigators said police broke a window in the Jetta and warned the suspect they would use an electric shock device if he continued to disobey their commands.

He refused, the device was deployed, officers removed Mobley from the car and arrested him.

The suspect "later admitted to hoping officers would run his plate and stop him, appearing to try to entice this interaction," officials said in a statement.

Police released footage of the incident captured by a patrol vehicle dashboard camera and an officer body camera.
