A 15-year-old student is accused of domestic terrorism after an alleged threat at Clarkston Junior High School this week, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office announced Friday.

Officials detained the Pontiac resident after another student found a paper towel note in the bathroom that allegedly said she threatened to shoot up the school, the sheriff's office said in a release.

The student reported the note to school officials after finding it on Thursday shortly before 11 a.m., according to the release.

The school was "in secure mode" for about an hour on Thursday as sheriff's deputies searched the grounds. An investigation determined the girl's parents did not own a firearm and she had no access to one, according to the release.

An Oakland County juvenile court named the girl in a petition on domestic terrorism for the incident, according to the release.

A juvenile court referee denied a request to release the girl on a tether on grounds that she was "a flight risk and a danger to society," officials said.

Officials will continue to detain her at Oakland County Children's Village, a Pontiac youth detention center, until a hearing on April 18.
