Man dies in crash into Southfield building, police say

A Wayne County man is dead after his vehicle crashed into a building and caught fire Wednesday in Southfield, police said.

Officers and firefighters were called at about 10:30 p.m. to 27050 West Eight Mile Road near Grand River Avenue for a crash. Callers told dispatchers the vehicle struck the building and both were on fire, officials said.

They arrived and medics pronounced the vehicle's driver, a 33-year-old Redford Township man, dead at the scene, authorities said.

Police said the investigation into the crash is ongoing. Other details were not released.
