Assault suspect questioned in missing woman's case

Livonia — An Oakland County man whom authorities have questioned in the December disappearance of a Farmington Hills woman was charged Wednesday with the attempted sexual assault of a Hines Park jogger.

Floyd Galloway, 30, of Berkley was arraigned in 16th District Court in Livonia on charges of kidnapping, criminal sexual conduct-assault with intent to commit sexual penetration and assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder by strangulation.

If convicted, he faces life in prison for the kidnapping charge, 10 years for the sexual assault charge and another 10 years for the assault with intent charge.

Police said that on Sept. 4, a 28-year-old woman who was jogging reported being attacked in Edward Hines Park near Levan Road in Livonia.

“The victim said that she was grabbed from behind and dragged down an embankment while being punched and strangled to the point of losing consciousness,” Livonia police said in a statement.

The man “violently assaulted the woman while demanding sex,” police said.

She fought back and the man ran off. She was able to flag down a car before contacting police.

Galloway stood mute to the charges at his arraignment.

Judge Kathleen McCann ordered Galloway held on a $750,000 cash bond.

If he posts the cash bond, he will be required to wear a GPS tether, she said.

McCann scheduled his next court appearance for July 6.

Farmington Hills Police Chief Chuck Nebus said Wednesday in a statement that detectives investigating the disappearance of Danielle Stislicki, a Farmington Hills woman who disappeared in December, have spoken to Galloway in the past and have searched his Berkley home.

“More than 60 search warrants for structures, cars and electronic data have been executed,” he said. “Over 100 law enforcement officers, evidence technicians, and lab personnel have been diligently working on the Stislicki case.”

Galloway is a former security guard who worked for a company that previously provided security at the building in Southfield where Stislicki was employed. Galloway was acquainted with Stislicki during his security duties at MetLife, Nebus said.

“The Stislicki case remains an active investigation,” he said. “The pieces of the puzzle have been slowly falling into place since Danielle disappeared on Dec. 2. Investigators are optimistic the case will be solved. They will not rest until justice is obtained for Danielle and the Stislicki family.”

Family and friends of the missing Farmington Hills woman were in court Wednesday, but declined to speak to the media.

McCann ordered the investigation report and witness list in the case not be released to the public. She said the Prosecutor’s Office was concerned about threats made either by the defendant or his family and friends.

“This is the first we’ve heard about this, your honor,” said Galloway’s attorney, John Dakmak.

Dalmak said his client has only a misdemeanor charge of driving while impaired on his record and was not a flight risk or a threat to the community.

“These are serious charges,” he said. “We don’t know much about the complaint, but we look forward to our day in court and are prepared to move forward.”

Meanwhile, Allen Park police are investigating a potential connection between the Livonia case and one of their cases.

“We have items of evidence from our case that we are sending to the lab to see if it can be tied to the individual arrested in Livonia,” Chief James Wilkewitz said in a statement. “It will be some time before we have the lab results and we have no further comment at this time.”
