A Toledo man was arraigned Sunday in the fatal shooting of singer and musician Egypt Covington in her Van Buren Township home three years ago, Michigan State Police said.

Police announced on Twitter that Timothy Eugene Moore, 34, was arraigned Sunday at the 34th District Court in Romulus and he faces eight charges, court records show: first-degree premediated murder, felony murder, first-degree home invasion, firearms possession by a felon, and four counts of felony firearm.

Moore was denied bond and will remain at Wayne County Jail. He is due back in court Nov. 18.

On Thursday, state police announced they had made two arrests in the case.

Covington was found fatally shot in her Van Buren Township home in June 2017 after not responding to calls from her boyfriend. She was shot in the head and her hands were bound with Christmas lights, police said.

The 27-year-old woman was a 2007 graduate of Belleville High School. Her passion for beer and wine led to her work as an account manager for wholesale beer and wine distributor Rave Associates. She was an animal lover and enjoyed yoga and meditation, often going outdoors to meditate in Crosswinds Marsh in New Boston.

Covington was last seen at a yoga class on June 22, 2017, talking with a friend before heading home. A day later, on June 23 at 7:15 p.m., a friend found her body in her home in the 45000 block of Hull.

Police said early in their investigation that the slaying was not a "random act."

"It's hard for a family to go through this," the victim's mother, Tina Covington, said at a press conference after her death. "She did not deserve to lose her life so young. It doesn't matter what you know, how little you think it may be, pick up the phone and call. It's like a big puzzle out there and every little sentence can put it together."

In 2018, investigators identified an acquaintance of Covington as a person of interest but the man was never arrested.
