Wrong-way driver dies, 1 injured in head-on crash Sunday in Taylor, police say

A 31-year-old Taylor woman died Sunday after driving the wrong way and colliding with a vehicle on Telegraph Road in Taylor, police said Wednesday.

The other driver, a 39-year-old Southfield man, was hospitalized with serious injuries. Police on Wednesday did not have an update on his condition.

Taylor police received calls at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday about a white SUV traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Telegraph Road from Interstate 94, police said in a news release. Moments later, dispatch received calls about a head-on collision on Telegraph Road near Schomberg Street.

The woman, driving a white 2010 Land Rover LR2, was pronounced dead at the scene after she crashed head-on with the Southfield man, who was driving a 2022 Dodge Ram, police reported.

No names were released.

An investigation is ongoing.
