1 dead, 2 hurt in Dearborn Heights crash between tow truck, vehicle

A woman died and two men were injured in a crash between a tow truck and a car Tuesday in Dearborn Heights, police said.

Officers were called at about 3:30 p.m. to the intersection of Van Born and Gulley roads for a report of a traffic crash.

They found a collision between a tow truck and a passenger vehicle. Medics took the tow truck's driver and the car's two occupants to a hospital.

Authorities said the truck driver, a 31-year-old Detroit man, had undisclosed injuries.

The two in the car were a 24-year-old Ohio man and a 27-year-old Ohio woman. The man suffered minor injuries and the woman died at the hospital from her injuries, police said.

According to a preliminary investigation, the tow truck was traveling west on Van Born near Gulley when it crashed into the passenger vehicle as it turned from eastbound Van Born onto Gulley.

Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
