A 23-year-old woman was arrested last weekend after police said she drove the wrong way on two Metro Detroit freeways.

Michigan State Police received 911 calls at 3:30 a.m. Sunday about a wrong-way driver traveling west on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 96 between Evergreen Road and the Southfield Freeway, officials said.

Troopers were sent to the location to find the driver.

As they were en route, police received 911 calls that the same vehicle was now traveling south on Interstate 75's northbound lanes near Clark Street in Detroit, officials said. Callers reported the driver was also speeding.

Police checked the Michigan Department of Transportation cameras on the freeway and saw the vehicle crossing the Rouge River Bridge.

Authorities said a trooper saw the vehicle as it passed Allen Road, got ahead of it and waited in a turn-around. After the suspect vehicle passed the trooper, the officer performed a maneuver with his car to stop it on northbound I-75 at Eureka Road in Taylor, officials said.

The trooper arrested the driver, a Dearborn Heights resident, for suspected drunken driving. She was housed in a detention center to await charges.

Police said no crashes or injuries were reported.
