A Flushing man has been charged with two misdemeanors in Wayne County for allegedly stalking Attorney General Dana Nessel and her wife, Alanna Maguire.

Christopher Dean Baldwin, 40, was arraigned Wednesday on two misdemeanor counts of stalking in front of 35th District Court Judge Michael Gerou. His bond was set at $100,000 or 10% surety with a GPS tether.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, right, and her wife, Alanna Maguire, a city commissioner in Plymouth, were allegedly stalked by a Flushing man who attended a Plymouth city commission meeting and showed up at the couple's home the next morning.

Plymouth police were called to Nessel and Maguire's home shortly after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday after receiving a call that Baldwin had rang the doorbell then sat on her front porch, according to a statement from Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy.

Baldwin was still sitting on the front porch when police arrived, according to Worthy.

Worthy noted Baldwin also attended a Plymouth city commission Monday where Maguire, who is a city commissioner, was in attendance.

"This simply will not be tolerated," Worthy said in a statement. "Unfortunately, in today’s climate threats to elected and other officials have become normalized. Not by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, ever.”

Baldwin is set to appear in court next for a pre-trial hearing on March 15 in front of Judge James Plakas.

Plymouth police Lt. Jamie Grabowski said the events Monday and Tuesday were preceded by other police contacts with Baldwin.

Grabowski said police were aware the man had made prior attempts to contact the attorney general through her Lansing office. And a week before his arrest, police had made contact with Baldwin in the area near Nessel's home; Baldwin told police at the time he was in the area looking for investment properties, Grabowski said.

He again was found in the area by Nessel's home on Monday, ahead of attending the commission meeting, Grabowski said.
