Tigers Today podcast: Tony takes show on the road with new Whitecaps manager

Tony Paul hosts a special edition of The Detroit News/Detroit Tigers podcast with Tony Cappuccilli, the new manager of the West Michigan Whitecaps.

Cappuccilli, a Southern California native and Las Vegas resident, is coaching in Grand Rapids with the Tigers' single-A affiliate in the Midwest League.

The Whitecaps are 10-13 after Wednesday's 4-2 victory over Dayton in 10 innings. They are tied with the Lansing Lugnuts for third place in the East division, six games behind first-place Great Lakes.

Tony talks to Cappuccilli about his unique road to joining the Detroit organization and they identify players to watch in Grand Rapids this year.

Tony also talks to Whitecaps infielder and former second-round pick Izaac Pacheco at the 8:30 mark of the podcast.

New Tigers play-by-play announcer Jason Benetti will be the guest for the next Tigers Today podcast on Thursday, May 9.

Jason will talk with Tony about his first season in the Detroit TV booth as well as Jason's early impressions of his new home after eight seasons in Chicago.

Tony and Chris also will talk about the Tigers' current road trip, which will see games in New York on Friday through Sunday and in Cleveland on Monday through Wednesday.
