MSU still working on response to NCAA inquiry

East Lansing – The Michigan State athletic department continues to work on its response to the NCAA’s letter of inquiry regarding how it handled the Larry Nassar case.

That report has not been completed, however, MSU associate athletic director for communications Matt Larson said work on the response is ongoing and added there is no deadline the university must meet.

Last Tuesday, the NCAA sent a letter of inquiry that asked Michigan State to send information regarding any potential violations of NCAA legislation as a self-report.

The NCAA did not offer any additional comment Wednesday, referring to its original statement.

“The NCAA has sent a letter of inquiry to Michigan State University regarding potential NCAA rules violations related to the assaults Larry Nassar perpetrated against girls and young women, including some student-athletes at Michigan State,” the statement said. “We will have no further comment at this time.”

Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis, who announced his retirement on Friday and spent his last day on the job Wednesday, said Michigan State would offer a “comprehensive response.”
