Dusty May appears to have filled out his coaching staff at Michigan, with his third and final assistant hailing from a West Coast program.

According to multiple reports on Wednesday, May is hiring Saint Mary’s associate head coach Justin Joyner. The news was first reported by CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

Dusty May's inaugural coaching staff at Michigan appears to be complete.

Joyner has spent the last seven seasons with the Gaels, including six as coach. He joined Randy Bennett’s staff at Saint Mary’s in 2017 as a director of operations and earned a promotion to assistant coach a year later. This past season was his second with the associate head coach title.

During his time at Saint Mary’s, Joyner helped coach the Gaels to two West Coast Conference regular-season titles, two conference tournament championships and four NCAA Tournament berths. He was also a key recruiter who helped the program land top-150 recruits like Aidan Mahaney, a two-time All-WCC first-team selection.

Before getting into coaching, Joyner, a point guard, played college basketball at UC Santa Barbara from 2006-11.

In addition to Joyner, former Oklahoma State head coach Mike Boynton Jr. and Georgia assistant Akeem Miskdeen have also reportedly accepted assistant coaching jobs on May’s staff at Michigan.
