Two Metro Detroit football standouts appear poised to move on from Michigan.

Michigan early enrollee freshman Jeremiah Beasley, a four-star linebacker from Belleville who just concluded his first spring practice, and sophomore offensive lineman Amir Herring, a four star from West Bloomfield, have entered their names in the transfer portal, a Michigan spokesman confirmed to The Detroit News on Thursday.

They join D.J. Waller, the cornerback out of Michigan, who entered the NCAA transfer portal on Wednesday as the most recent to transfer from the program. Michigan, coming off a national championship, concluded spring practice under first-year head coach Sherrone Moore on April 20. The portal opened April 16 and closes April 30.

Jeremiah Beasley, who was an early enrollee at Michigan from Belleville, plans to transfer.

Beasley’s mother, Peggy Carr-McMichael, confirmed to The News earlier Thursday his decision to transfer.

Beasley and Herring had been named to The Detroit News Dream Team in 2023 and 2022, respectively. Herring, a 6-foot-3, 300-pounder, played in one game for the Wolverines last season at guard against Indiana.

Beasley signed with Michigan last December during the early signing period and traveled with the team to the Rose Bowl and national title game and participated in practices.

“It’s been something I’ve been waiting on for a while, just to be able to sign and officially be a Michigan Wolverine, so it’s been a blessing,” Beasley told The News last December after he signed.

Michigan linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary said earlier this month he had high hopes for early enrollees Cole Sullivan and Beasley.

“Guys that should be in high school and they're getting quality reps at spring practice, very, very excited about those two guys,” Jean-Mary told reporters. “I think they're going to be two high-end guys that are going to continue the tradition that we've had here of solid linebackers that are very productive. Been very happy with those guys.”
