Ann Arbor — Whether Michigan defensive end Rashan Gary will be available for Saturday’s game at Michigan State remains unclear.

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh did make one thing clear, though, during Monday’s news conference — he is not discussing injuries.

Gary has missed the last two games with what Harbaugh has called an AC joint issue in his right shoulder. The Wolverines are playing at Michigan State on Saturday in the annual in-state rivalry game.

“I don’t know if he’s going to be back this week,” Harbaugh said. “And past that, I’m just not talking any injuries.”

He was asked if fullback Ben Mason’s limited time in the Wisconsin game was injury- or game plan-related. Mason had a touchdown against Maryland a week earlier and scored three rushing touchdowns in the first half against Nebraska.

“I’m not talking about any injuries,” Harbaugh reiterated.

Later, when asked if receiver Tarik Black, who broke his right foot a week before the season opener at Notre Dame, has been cleared for practice, Harbaugh wouldn’t budge.

“Not talking about injuries, statuses,” he said.

Giving props

Shea Patterson took off 81 yards on a run during the Wisconsin game, and he got a crucial assist early on from tight end Sean McKeon, who gave him some solid blocking at the start of the run.

Patterson said after the game that McKeon is one of the best blockers on the team.

“I’d have to agree with that too,” tight end Nick Eubanks said Monday. “(McKeon) brings the energy. Each practice, he’s bringing everybody along.”

Quotable

Fifth-year senior defensive tackle Lawrence Marshall, who is from Southfield, on playing in the Michigan State game: “It’s going to be one of those special moments. As a kid you dream of these moments, playing in the Michigan State-Michigan game and the Ohio State-Michigan game. Being able to play in this game, it’s unbelievable.”
