Michigan cornerback D.J. Waller enters transfer portal
Michigan sophomore cornerback D.J. Waller, who was mentioned quite often during spring practice as a contender for a starting job this season, has entered his name in the transfer portal, The Detroit News confirmed Wednesday.
Waller, 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, was competing with Ja’Den McBurrows and Jyaire Hill for the starting job opposite Will Johnson. Last season as a freshman, Waller had 12 tackles and a pass breakup.
Michigan concluded spring practice with the game at Michigan Stadium last Saturday. The transfer portal opened April 16 and closed April 30.
During spring practice interviews with reporters, receiver Tyler Morris said Waller had stood out and had been giving the receivers fits.
“He’s a big, physical, long corner,” Morris said. “He’s looked real good this spring and definitely challenged us.”
