Second-round busts scar Mayhew's draft record

Although Martin Mayhew did well to build the Lions' playoff rosters in 2011 and 2014, his draft record is speckled with problematic selections. Trading into the back-end of the first round to take running back Jahvid Best in 2010, despite his previous concussions, was among the most notable misfires.

But among the things fans will remember most about Mayhew was his struggle to identify players in the second round that could become marquee players for the franchise. In 2011, the Lions took wide receiver Titus Young and running back Mikel Leshoure, both of whom were out of the NFL by 2014. In 2012, wide receiver Ryan Broyles was the pick despite entering the league with a major injury, and since the Lions cut him out of training camp, he hasn't yet landed with another team.
