Allen Park — Two Baltimore Ravens players were fined for unnecessary hits from last week's game against the Detroit Lions.

Both plays occurred in the fourth quarter of Baltimore's 38-6 victory. The first of the two came on the opening snap of the final frame, when Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith connected with the helmet of Lions quarterback Jared Goff on a blitz. That hit drew a 15-yard penalty for roughing the passer and Smith was assessed a $16,391 fine.

Baltimore Ravens’ Odell Beckham Jr. is flipped after a reception by Detroit Lions’ Keryby Joseph in the first quarter.

Less than four minutes later, Ravens wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. lowered his helmet after making a catch inside the 10-yard line, initiating helmet-to-helmet contact with Lions safety Kerby Joseph. The play was negated by a holding infraction against the Ravens, but Beckham wasn't flagged.

Because of the hit, Joseph had to exit the game to be evaluated for a concussion. He was ultimately cleared and didn't appear on this week's injury report. Beckham was fined $21,844 by the league after further review of the play.
