The Lions announced on Saturday afternoon that they are temporarily elevating veteran Michael Badgley off the practice squad.

Detroit — For at least one game, the Detroit Lions appear to be making a kicking change ahead of Saturday night's matchup with the Denver Broncos.

Hours before kickoff, the Lions announced they are temporarily elevating veteran Michael Badgley off the practice squad. He spent much of last season on Detroit's roster, converting on 20-of-24 field-goal attempts with a long of 53, as well as making all 33 of his extra points.

Detroit's regular kicker this year, Riley Patterson, has been steady, but little used. Through 13 games, he's attempted just 17 field goals, making 15. In recent weeks, he's had some issues with extra points, missing two in the past three games.

In addition to the developing kicking situation, the Lions are also promoting edge defender Bruce Irvin off the practice squad. He missed last Sunday's game with an ankle injury, a week after he debuted with the Lions, recording a sack in a victory over New Orleans.
