Detroit — The Detroit Lions have a surprise inactive for Sunday's season finale, making defensive lineman John Cominsky a healthy scratch for the matchup with the Minnesota Vikings.

A waiver claim during the 2022 offseason, Cominsky has appeared in 30 games the past two years, including 19 starts. He's appeared in every game this season and had been averaging more than 35 snaps. His 569 defensive snaps rank second on the team behind only Aidan Hutchinson.

The Lions have a surprise inactive for Sunday's season finale, making defensive lineman John Cominsky a healthy scratch for the matchup with the Vikings.

Cominsky has tallied a career-high 36 tackles this season, while his 29 pass-rush pressures rank third on the roster behind Hutchinson and Alim McNeill. The latter is returning to the lineup this week after a four-week absence due to a sprained MCL.

In addition to Cominsky, the Lions also made cornerback Steven Gilmore, defensive end Charles Harris, quarterback Hendon Hooker, defensive tackle Brodric Martin, wide receiver Jameson Williams and tight end Brock Wright inactive.

Williams (ankle) and Wright (hip) had previously been ruled out with injury. The others are healthy scratches, but none are surprises based on their usage this season. Harris, a defensive captain, hasn't logged more than four defensive reps in a game since November.
