49ers' Deebo Samuel cleared to play, won't speak on beef with Lions' Gardner-Johnson

Santa Clara, Calif. — The San Francisco 49ers will have their full stable of horses for Sunday's NFC Championship against the Detroit Lions at Levi's Stadium.

Former All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel (shoulder), who exited early from the team's divisional-round win over Green Bay, had his injury designation removed after participating in consecutive practices to close the week. Samuel didn't practice Wednesday, was limited Thursday but was a full go on Friday, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.

Samuel suffered a hairline fracture in his shoulder earlier this season that knocked him out of a loss to the Cleveland Browns, plus two subsequent contests, both losses. In 15 games this season, Samuel had 12 touchdowns with 892 yards receiving and 225 rushing.

"Right when I figured out it wasn't the same thing as the Browns game, I was kind of relieved, because I know it wasn't fractured, it was just a bruise or whatever," Samuel said, adding he put "timeless hours" in to getting his shoulder right for Sunday.

"At the time, it was hurting really bad. I was kind of scared a little bit. I thought I had fractured it again, and I was just all over the place. In a big game like that, I had millions of emotions on the sidelines, trying to hold it together for my team."

All eyes will be on his interactions with Lions safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson. The two engaged in social media beef back in October. Gardner-Johnson made a comment about 49ers offensive lineman Trent Williams coming to "save him" during an altercation with another player, which started a little back and forth that ended with Gardner-Johnson going on Instagram Live to talk some smack.

"Don't be friendly when you see me," Gardner-Johnson said in the video. "You be so flashy, you better hope all that talk you be doing when we see y'all running around...cause I can guard you, you can't run routes. You're a running back. You're a running back. I ain't even gonna sit here and play with you, little boy. You think cause you got a little (money), people gave you a little clout, man, you ain't nothing, bro. Stop playing.'

Samuel responded on the Up and Adams Show, hosted by Kay Adams, saying, "it just sounds like he's mad I got a little bag and a lot of money and nobody knows who he is."

Samuel declined the opportunity to speak Friday on his beef with Gardner-Johnson.

"You just got to come in and strap it up," Samuel said.
