Allen Park — If Zach Ertz is going to debut for the Detroit Lions, it will have to wait until the Super Bowl. The three-time Pro Bowler, who was brought in for depth this week following season-ending injuries to Brock Wright and James Mitchell, wasn't one of the two players temporarily elevated off the practice squad for Sunday's NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Getting the bump from the practice squad for the game day roster are fullback Jason Cabinda and guard Michael Schofield.

For Cabinda, it will mark his fourth straight elevation, including the previous two postseason games. In addition to his limited offensive role, he's a central figure on Detroit's special teams. As for Schofield, he provides experienced interior o-line depth with starting left guard Jonah Jackson ruled out with a knee injury.

The decision not to elevate Ertz leaves the Lions short-handed at tight end. Rookie starter Sam LaPorta will be counted on to shoulder most of the load, as usual. Three weeks removed from a knee injury of his own, he was off the report at the end of this week.

Additional snaps could be provided by Anthony Firsker, offensive tackle Dan Skipper, who serves as a blocking tight end in the team's jumbo package, and potentially even Cabinda, who often practices with the position group.
