Santa Clara, Calif. — The Detroit Lions wasted no time seizing the moment in Sunday’s NFC Championship against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium.

San Francisco won the coin toss and elected to defer, giving Detroit the ball to start the game. The Lions marched 75 yards down the field in four plays to grab a 7-0 lead on the road, culminating with a 42-yard touchdown by Jameson Williams.

David Montgomery ran the ball for gains of four and 15 yards, leading to a dump-off to Sam LaPorta that put the Lions in San Francisco territory. On the fourth play of the drive, Detroit faked a handoff and then tossed the ball to Williams on an end-around, and he found a lane, broke a tackle from 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw and sped into the end zone.

It was the fifth touchdown of Williams’ career and fourth of the season. Williams, the No. 12 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, also scored this season in Week 6 at Tampa Bay, Week 11 against Chicago and Week 13 at New Orleans.
