Allen Park — With many of the team's top needs addressed the first couple days of the new league year, the Detroit Lions continued to address some secondary priorities heading into the weekend.

After re-signing top special-teams performer Khalil Dorsey on Thursday night, the Lions reached an agreement to bring back long snapper Scott Daly on Friday morning.

The Lions reached an agreement to bring back long snapper Scott Daly on Friday morning.

Daly unseated Don Muhlbach, Detroit's longtime answer at the position, in 2021. The Lions were particularly pleased with Daly's improvements last season, prior to a knee injury prematurely ending his year.

"I feel like Daly’s game is elevated," Lions coach Dan Campbell said last year. "He’s gotten better. His speed of his snaps, location, getting out of his stance and protection are showing up."

The Lions solved Daly's injury absence by re-signing former Pro Bowler Jake McQuaide, who had been with the team during training camp, as competition for Daly. McQuaide worked the final nine games of the season, plus the team's three postseason contests.

A product of Notre Dame, Daly spent his rookie offseason with the Dallas Cowboys in 2018 before stints in the AAF and XFL, two now-defunct spring leagues. He joined the Lions during the 2021 offseason, when he beat out Muhlbach in a training camp competition.

Daly has appeared in 42 games for the Lions.
