Netflix officially announced the sequel to its popular "Quarterback" docuseries Tuesday morning. The follow-up, "Receiver," tracked five of the NFL's top pass-catchers, including Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, throughout the 2023 season.

"Receiver" will launch this summer.

The Detroit News originally reported St. Brown's participation in the project in November.

In addition to St. Brown, the show will also feature Raiders receiver Davante Adams, Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson, plus two 49ers, tight end George Kittle and receiver Deebo Samuel. The eight-episode series, which is a collaboration between NFL Films, Peyton Manning's Omaha productions and Patrick Mahomes' 2PM productions, will launch on a still-unspecified date this summer.

"We are excited to be working again with Netflix and NFL Films to give fans unprecedented access to what it’s like to play receiver at the highest level,” Manning said in a statement. “As we did with 'Quarterback,' we look forward to telling the stories of five incredible receivers, each with their unique personality, skillset, and motivation for what drives them to be the best.”

'Quarterback,' which was announced in February 2024 and premiered five months later in July, followed the on- and off-field happenings of three NFL passers — Mahomes, Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota. Prior to shifting focus to a different position, the show producers approached multiple NFL quarterbacks about being featured in Season 2 of the show, including current and former Lions quarterbacks Jared Goff and Matthew Stafford.

Goff explained his decision to decline the offer in an interview with 97.1-FM.

“A multitude of reasons,” Goff said. “I really don’t know if it’s as distracting as people may think, the way that they do it, but just wasn’t the right fit for me this year. Maybe one day."

Lions reciever Amon-Ra St. Brown is one of five receivers featured in a new Netflix documentary that will premiere this season.

The lack of quarterback interest should prove to be St. Brown's gain, further boosting his national profile, coming off his first All-Pro season. In his third year with the Lions after being drafted in the fourth round out of USC in 2022, he racked up 119 catches for 1,515 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns, ranking in the top five in each category.

St. Brown is entering the final year of his rookie contract and it's believed the team is working toward an extension this offseason.

Both Mahomes and Manning are among six with executive producer credits for the series, along with Jamie Horowitz from Omaha Productions and Ross Ketover, Pat Kelleher and Keith Cossrow from NFL Films.
