The unusually long first-round wait for Detroit Lions fans was rewarded with a moment of great excitement.

After weeks of hinting at the idea that they might trade down, Lions general manager Brad Holmes instead decided to trade up with the Dallas Cowboys for the 24th pick to draft Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold in the first round on Thursday night.

And what a payoff it was. Here's Detroit's reaction to the pick being announced after the Lions traded up to get Arnold.

Arnold was one of the 13 prospects to attend the draft in Detroit, making his selection to the hometown team an even grander ordeal. He took the microphone on the draft stage and proclaimed that he was there to help the Lions win a Super Bowl.

"Detroit, y'all got a star, man. I'm home, man. I'm home!" Arnold shouted on the draft stage. "These fans are gonna be crazy, man. Golly."

He added, "I'm gonna help 'em win a Super Bowl," to which the crowd went wild.

"Listen to that," Arnold continued. "It's amazing. We're gonna go crazy."

That they did. And judging by the activity on social media, they still are.
