Friday's hockey: MSU snaps 16-game winless skid vs. Minnesota; Husso blanks Belleville

Michigan State's Daniel Russell scored with four seconds remaining in regulation for a 3-2 win over Minnesota.

Michigan State ended a 16-game winless streak against the University of Minnesota on a late goal by Daniel Russell for a 3-2 victory on Friday at Munn Ice Arena in East Lansing.

Russell's goal with four seconds left in regulation capped the comeback for the No. 7 Spartans, who beat the No. 9 Golden Gophers for the first time since the 2020-21 season.

Trailing 2-0 in the third period, Griffin Jurecki and Karsen Dorwat scored goals to tie the game 2-2 and South Lyon's Trey Augustine made 28 saves for Michigan State, now 17-5-3 and 11-2-2 in Big Ten play.

Michigan 5, Wisconsin 1

Frank Nazar had two goals and one assist in No. 14 Michigan's 5-1 win over No. 3 Wisconsin on Friday at Yost Ice Arena in Ann Arbor.

Rutger McGroarty had a pair of assists for his fifth-consecutive, multi-point performance and Dylan Duke extended his point streak to 11 games with one goal and one assist.

Grand Rapids 3, Belleville 0

Goalie Ville Husso made 25 saves for the shutout in his Grand Rapids Griffins debut on a conditioning assignment from the Detroit Red Wings.

The Griffins blanked Belleville 3-0 on Friday at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids.

Jonatan Berggren had two goals and one assist, Carter Mazur had a goal and an assist and Marco Kasper added an assist for the Griffins.

St. Louis 4, (at) Seattle 3 (OT): Pavel Buchnevich scored his second goal of the game 3:31 into overtime and St. Louis rallied from a two-goal deficit to beat Seattle.

St. Louis, which trailed 3-1 in the second period, won its fourth straight. Buchnevich scored 1:27 into the third period to pull the Blues even at 3 and then won it in overtime. Robert Thomas and Oskar Sundqvist also scored for St. Louis. Jordan Binnington made 33 saves.

Evgeni Malkin forced overtime with his 16th goal of the season that came with 41.5 seconds left in regulation. Guentzel also scored in regulation for the Penguins, who lost their third straight.
