DCFC falls to St. Pauli in international friendly

Detroit City FC got off to a fast start and scored less than 10 minutes into its international friendly against FC St. Pauli.

But Le Rouge couldn't maintain the momentum and, ultimately, couldn't keep pace in a 6-2 loss Saturday at Keyworth Stadium in front of a sellout crowd of 7,264.

Trevor Amann, who was making his first start, scored in the eighth minute to give Detroit City FC a quick 1-0 lead. However, it didn't last long as Sami Allagui beat DCFC goalie Nate Steinwascher to even it in the 21st minute and start a string of five unanswered goals.

Seung-Won Lee and Allagui found the back of the net in the 28th and 32nd minutes, respectively, to give St. Pauli a 3-1 advantage at halftime.

St. Pauli, who plays in the second tier of German soccer, extended its lead in the second half with goals from Marcell Sobotta in the 53rd minute and Dimitris Diamantakos in the 67th minute to make it 5-1.

Rafael Duizit netted Le Rouge's second goal off a feed from Harvey Moyes in the 85th minute before St. Pauli's Luca Zander provided the final tally three minutes later.

Regardless of the result, it was a historic night for Detroit City FC. The match marked St. Pauli's first in the United States and Le Rouge's first televised game on Fox Sports Detroit.
