Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson fires up the Red Wings' crowd before Tuesday's game against the Capitals at Little Caesars Arena.

As if Red Wings' fans needed another reason to be excited about their playoff-bound hockey team.

Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson fired up the fans before and during Tuesday's convincing 8-3 victory against the Washington Capitals at Little Caesars Arena.

Wearing a Red Wings' jersey with No. 97 and Hutchinson on the back, the Plymouth native and former Michigan Wolverine hit the goal horn and cheered wildly before the game.

Hutchinson was also shown supporting the Red Wings on the video board during the game and he talked to Trevor Thompson of Bally Sports Detroit during the intermission.

"The (Lions) fans' support even in that playoff push was unreal, everything was a dream," Hutchinson said. "The team we have, and the team we built, the foundation that we have, we're going to keep this up."

Hutchinson said he's never played hockey, just pond hockey and he "admires the way they move around the ice." Detroit has won six straight games, are in the first wild-card position and are trying to end a seven-year playoff drought.

"I want to thank all the (Lions) fans for pushing through the hard times," Hutchinson said. "Kids have grown up with this brand new team, the energy around the team is just amazing."
