League matches aren’t the only area where head coach Danny Dichio has remained perfect through his first four games with Detroit City FC.

He’s also 1-0 when it comes to winning USL Championship Coach of the Month, too.

Danny Dichio is off to a perfect start as Detroit City FC's head coach.

The first-year gaffer on Wednesday was given the award after guiding DCFC to a 4-0-0 start that put Le Rouge near the top of the table on 12 points. DCFC on Saturday overcame its least explosive performance of the year to hold off North Carolina FC in a 1-0 fixture.

Dichio, 49, took over as the head coach for Detroit City this past offseason. Trevor James, who led the team since 2019, moved into a sporting director role after taking DCFC up into USL Championship and making playoff appearances in the club’s first two seasons, including a 2023 run that featured a massive upset over the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.

Under Dichio’s watch, DCFC has blended an attacking posture with a longstanding reputation as being tough to play against defensively. DCFC is third in goals allowed per game (0.8), fourth in goals-for (1.8) and third in possession (55.1%).

DCFC is second in the Eastern Conference table behind Charleston Battery and ahead of Louisville City — both clubs on 12 points — but are the only team in the league to record the maximum number of points from its fixtures thus far.
