Spring showers are slated to reach Metro Detroit later this week after a partly cloudy Tuesday, the National Weather Service announced.

A weak cold front will pass through the region on Tuesday, when highs should reach the 70s with no conditions for rain, NWS Detroit officials said in a post on X.

More clouds will form over southeast Michigan on Wednesday as the mercury reaches the upper 60s, but the area is expected to remain dry during the day, according to the post.

Temperatures likely will hover around 60 the rest of the week except for Friday, when highs cool into the 50s.

Readings are still warmer than normal this time of year, said Kyle Klein, a meteorologist with the weather service.

Averages in early April are typically in the mid 50s, he said.

Meanwhile, showers start Wednesday night and continue through Friday, with NWS expecting totals between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain.

"Having that kind of soaking rain is fairly common in spring," Klein said.
