Usually, only seniors kiss the floor at Breslin Center in their final home game. Maybe there was more symbolic meaning that Tre Holloman did it as a junior.

Holloman entered the transfer portal Tuesday, first reported by ESPN's Jonathan Givony and confirmed by The Detroit News through a source familiar with the decision. The Minneapolis product averaged 9.1 points and 3.7 assists per game, carving a role as a "sixth starter" for Tom Izzo's rotation. He was also a captain.

More than his scoring and playmaking, Holloman will be known for a few stirring moments he stood up for his Michigan State team. Like confronting Michigan freshmen L.J. Cason and Phat Phat Brooks when they stood on the Spartans logo and interrupted MSU's Senior Day tradition in the March 9 game. As part of the postgame ceremony celebrating Michigan State's outright Big Ten championship, Izzo told Holloman to "kiss that frickin' S," something usually only seniors do. Holloman also had his disputes with Purdue's Zach Edey and Iowa's Brock Harding over the years.

Holloman delivered in a number of clutch moments for Michigan State this season, including his half-court buzzer-beater to stun Maryland at home. He also led the Spartans in a Maui Invitational win over North Carolina, as well as in both wins over Michigan. His acceptance of a move to the backup point guard role sorted out Michigan State's rotation down the stretch.

Should Holloman commit to another school, his attitude and talent would be a significant loss for Michigan State.
